Dear Friends!

It is a great pleasure for me to announce the official launch of the English-language version of the Sexual Health Intervention Toolkit for Street Children and Out-of-School Slum Children in India! After more than 5 years of very hard work, the APSA-SHIP toolkit will be presented and discussed in three regional NGO-consultations in South India in the coming few weeks.

In the attachments below you will find a brief brochure about the consultations and a registration form (you need to click on the small icons to download them). Please note that these consultations are meant to be small and intensive, and specifically want to include (South) Indian NGOs who are directly working with considerable numbers of teenage street children and/or out-of-school high-risk profiled teenage slum children. Also note that each participating NGO should be represented in the consultation by a director and a staff member.

The 2-day Indian NGO consultations will be held in:
... Bangalore: 15-16 February 2010
... Hyderabad: 23-24 February 2010
... Chennai: 5-6 March 2010
(Participants need to attend the full two days)

As the numbers of participants are limited to about 30 per consultation, it is advisable to send in your registration form at the earliest. The forms will be dealt with on a first come, first serve principle, with a first preference for representatives from South Indian street children NGOs.

Hoping for an active and constructive series of consultations that help to build "Happy, Healthy and Responsible Sexual Realities for Street and Slum Children"!

With warmest regards,

Meindert Schaap,
former programme director of APSA-SHIP (2005-2009)

P.S. The consultations allow for a few participants from multilateral or international NGOs working for the (sexual) health and well-being of street children in India. If you are working in such an organisation and in charge of the support for street children and/or sexual health issues, you can send an email letter of interest to the APSA-SHIP organisors at the email-ID given in the brochure.

P.P.S. We feel it is important to conduct these consultations because it is such an important topic and we have more than 5 years of experience and a well-tailored toolkit to share with you. However, our funds for these consultations are very limited. We therefore need to work with strict criteria for possible travel reimbursements. I hope you will understand this reality.
