| Meindert Schaap (director) | I am a geologist-turned-child psychologist with more than 15 years experience in working with street children and other groups of teenagers in difficult circumstances, both internationally and in my home country, the Netherlands.
In 2000, I started this project as an independent researcher. In 2003, collaborations with APSA Bangalore were started, and in 2005 I became the programme director for the APSA Sexual Health Intervention Programme (SHIP) for Street Children and Slum Children in India.
My main focus areas are street children, sexual health, psychological approaches to behaviour change intervention, training of (NGO) staff, and project management.
I continually try to translate research and knowledge into user-friendly, in-depth intervention tools that are both fun and educational.
The motto that guides my work is, 'Towards Empowerment and Well-Being'.
Please feel free to contact me - through the contact link at the bottom of this web-page - if you would like to know more about our work.
[P.S. Since April 2009 I have moved back to the Netherlands. I am now not the programme director of the APSA programme anymore. However, I am still closely associated long-distance.]
